Medical community blasts St. Lawrence Cement

In a trio of letters published June 30th in The Register-Star, St. Lawrence Cement's recent public relations gambits were taken apart in devastating fashion by members of the local medical community. These included a letter signed by 22 doctors on the medical staff of Columbia Memorial Hospital; a letter from Marsha Davis, a nurse from Germantown; and finally a letter from Dr. Ira Marks, the retired Chief of Pediatrics at CMH--who has written extensively before on the health risks of "fine particulate matter" (called "PM 2.5") emitted by cement kilns and other industrial processes.
